The Venue:
Set on an historic rural Virginia farm and situated amongst centuries old oak, pine and cedar trees,
the quaint Nazareth Methodist-Episcopal Church, circa 1920, is home to Cifax Yoga. Inside the church,
one is enveloped in charm and history. Ornate, antique tin decorates soaring ceilings, richly stained
wainscoting and original flooring provide warmth. Peaked arch windows frame vistas of the Blue Ridge
Mountains while board fenced pastures pen cattle, horses, ponies and mules.
Students from Lynchburg, Forest, Goode, Bedford and Moneta attend yoga classes held at the tiny church
5 times weekly. No matter the beginning of their story, each student seems to find a connection, a
thread that binds, one student to the other. Owing to the sense of community present at Cifax yoga,
students practice in safety, feeling held by one another, supported and in the company of caring individuals.
Here we tend to our spirits as the local farmers tend their crops, with great care and dedication.
Cifax Yoga is a retreat for body, mind & spirit ...and the journey begins on the drive. Through meandering back
country roads, visitors are transported to a simpler place which fosters a greater connection to nature and self.
This is a special place where time is measured in seasons, not due dates.
The spiritual history of the church, alive within the walls, is complimentary to
the practice of yoga and to each student's journey to self-understanding.
